In order to solve the problem of waterlogging in Xinshi River basin in Baiyun district of Guangzhou, causes of waterlogging were analyzed. Strategies named "upper storage, middle connection, and lower drainage" were studied. In the upper basin, combined with reservoir system scheduling, new underground storage tanks were built to increase the regulation capacity of the river basin. For the middle basin, rivers were connected to each other and river bayonets were broadened in order to improve the flow capacity of the river. In the downstream of the basin, pump stations and sluices were constructed to increase the drainage capacity. Therefore, the waterlogging can be alleviated.
